Bohemian Pilsner: A Classic Reborn in Busselton

There’s something about a crisp, golden pilsner that just hits differently, especially in the middle of a Busselton summer. Clean, refreshing, and effortlessly drinkable, it’s a beer style that’s been turning heads for almost two centuries. And now, we’re bringing it back to its roots—Bohemia born, Busselton brewed.

A Beer with History

In the early 19th century Bohemia was in the midst of a beer crisis. Their beer tasted rubbish, didn’t keep well, and it was overpriced.

Lack of a good beer was brewing discontent among the townspeople.

So in 1839 the people of Pilsen, a town in Bohemia, formed a cooperative brewery, called Měšťanský Pivovar – or the Citizens’ Brewery – and hired Bavarian brewmaster Josef Groll to run the show.

Bohemia’s new brewmaster combined his Bavarian lager-brewing techniques with local ingredients to craft a new style of beer, and in 1842 the first pilsner was brewed.

It was an instant hit.

Fast forward to today, and we’ve crafted a pilsner that pays homage to that legacy while making itself right at home here on the WA coast.

Brewed the Traditional Way

We’ve gone all in on tradition—100% specialty malt for that unmistakable rich-yet-balanced malt backbone, plus a solid eight weeks in tank, ensuring the kind of clean, crisp finish that pilsners are famous for. The result? A beer that pours brilliantly clear, golden and with a solid white foam and just the right amount of bitterness to keep things interesting.

At 5.4% ABV, it’s smooth, refreshing, and built for long afternoons by the bay.
